1. Does anyone know if there is an upper limit?

2. Is there an environment variable that sets the upper limit for the Broker?

Yes, there is an upper limit to the size of a message.

No, the broker does not use an environment variable to determine what the maximum message size it can handle is.

But if you are dealing in HUGE messages you better have enough memory and set the heap sizes accordingly....

True. But this is not done with ENVIRONMENT variables.
