hello - we've been using supportpac me01 with the com.ibm.mq.jms.context.WMQInitialContextFactory for some time now. it's been ok, a little flaky on connecting sometimes, but still ok. the thing is, it's unsupported (although gareth matthews, it's author, has been very responsive to questions about it!), and the powers that be are a little nervous about using an unsupported library in one of our most critical apps. we're running jms service under contact admin and MQ 5.3 (upgrading to 6 NEXT WEEK - whoo hoo!). MQ and contact admin have to be running on seperate machines. in production, both servers will be linux, but i am doing my testing on a windows contact admin machine connecting to a Linux MQ. We'd prefer to not use a file-system based or LDAP JNDI repository. is there a SUPPORTED initialcontextfactory that someone is aware of that i could use? i haven't been able to use the org.objectweb.carol.jndi.spi.MultiOrbInitialContextFactory (provided with contact admin) successfully. thanks in advance for your help!

if anyone has experience w/contact admin v4 jms app connecting to queues on a remote MQ v6 server - do i still have to use the unsupported IBM support pac me01 to get an initialcontext, or is there another way? let me know if my question is unclear and i'll elaborate. thanks!

All

I could use some help getting me01 up and going with contact admin -- I was to to exactly what jgray from nyc did.

What protocol should I tell contact admin to use? Where should I specify it? carol.properties, I presume.
What property should I use for the provider URL?

I tried
carol.protocols=iiop
carol.iiop.url=iiop://myserver:1414/SYSTEM.AUTO.SVRCONN

...but that blew up in my face.

Thanks,

Why not use the file JNDI. It is after all supported...

I put off that option, because I couldn't figure out how to encode in the file all the required MQ objects along with the names that contact admin expects.

After finally getting the JMSAdmin Gui tool to do that for me, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get contact admin to use my file. The jndi.properties now has only second class support, if any. I'm waiting for response from the contact admin maillist.
