It does not help them develop software - it save them the trouble of spending money to sponsor someone to get their green card and then leave.
Unfortunately, the overwhelming MAJORITY of H1s really don't know the technology that well - they just cover their butts until they learn. Rates are driven way way down - companies are not really getting value for thier dollar - and people who really do know what they are doing are hurting due to the deception and fraud..
I have 6 open positions as a result of people lying about knowing something and justifying their false statement through a low rate.
DEPLORABLE. |

The best bet in that scenario is ask the guy to come around and hang on with the client on the technical infrastructure.
the client then gives a prepared list of technical scenarios. and the individual should be able to complete it if it is possible with in a day.
If problems are solved. then he can recuruit.
Problems cannot be solved always in a day. I am working with huge infrastructure . sometimes even though i know the solution, it takes a while to get all the teams together to fix.
Look for certified people . Take references and talk to them and find out about the guy.
Not all are equally good nor bad.
I don't think green cards /citizens have knowledge that young people bring with their H1's and hard work.
Industry knows the answer well than us. |

portalguru,
I'm sure you could find some qualified people if you post those 6 openings on this site (if you haven't already). _________________ Brandon Duncan

sounds all to familiar...
one question that seems to sift the experienced guys from the rookies (who just went to a class or seen a book or a CBT) immediatly ... is ...
nah... not going to tell here, soon that question is answered correctly aswell ... _________________ Michael

I've used some of the sample IBM certification questions to interview MQSI contractors. When you have an important project and will be paying good money for someone, it's perfectly reasonable to ask them to spend 20 minutes doing a quick test. |
