Hello,
I have gone through the IBM WMB 6.0 installation pdf and in that it is mentioned that the following windows operating systems are suitable:
Windows XP Professional (only for development and testing, not for production)
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
I wan't to know whether Windows 2000 is suitable for the WMB installation or not.
Please let me know if anybody installed in Windows 2000 and there are no issues with it.
Thanks |

Hi,
I have installed and configured WMBv6 on my Win2K Professional OS successfully.
I have used MS SQL Server 2000 for broker database.
It is working quite well without any issues.
I haven't tried to install, configure and use it on Win2K Advanced Server edition, but am confident that it will work fine. _________________ Vivek

Hi,
Working without issues does not mean that it is supported. Since Microsoft itslef has announced that it will no longer support Win2K WMB (v6) SOE pages does not show that it is supported.
That means there will be no Fixpacks or e-fixes available for Win 2k. |

As someone has already pointed out, on the 30th of June 2005 Microsoft announced that the Windows 2000 product family will transition from mainstream support to extended support.
Consequently WMB v6 has not included Windows 2000 in their System Requirements.
If you are purely going to use this for evaluation purposes, prototyping or standalone development then you should probably be ok.
However, it is also worth pointing out another point which seems to frequently get confused. This is where it is indicate that "I have got it working without issues".
This does not mean that it is supported nor does it mean that it will work in all circumstances.
If you have the option to install WMB v6 on either Windows XP and Windows 2003 then you should rather do so. _________________ Regards, Ian |
