Hi
We have 2 MQ clusters functioning as a gateway between zones. The gateway holds a total of 6 Qmgrs. QM1 and QM2 are members of Cluster R, QM5 and QM6 are members of Cluster G while QM3 and QM4 are members of both clusters and are full respositories.
Requests are put on QM1 and QM2, routed through to QM5 and QM6 where an MDB catches the message and processes it further.
Now, this solution has some weaknesses and we are concidering changing the architecture by replacing WAS/MDB with the message Broker.
My initial thought is to put the Broker on the same server (HPUX) as QM5 and QM6 (MQ v 5.3.11) and use those qmgrs as the brokers qmgrs.
I am hoping for comments and conciderations on such a scenario.

Thanks in advance

Regards
EB

Don't you use QM5 and QM6 for any other applications other than this app?

QM5 and QM6 are good for brokers based on the info posted. You can make all applications put messages to alias queues on QM1 and QM2 and the target queues would reside on the broker qmgrs. brokers read msgs, process them and put them wherever needed.

This would shield the brokers from applications. It's better that applications don't have access to broker qmgrs directly.

Thanks.
ydsk.

No, not at this point. QM5 and QM6 only function as a gateway into another zone for this particular app. There are other qmgrs on the servers, serving other apps, but they are not part of the MQ cluster.
In time however other apps will connect to the solution.
