Hi all,

We are trying to figure out if we want to continue using IBM in this new coming year or not. So the first step to make to figure it out was to revisit licensing maintanence pricing/cost.

I was wondering if you could share how much you pay for the MQSereis and/or WBIMB and/or WAS and/or Process Choreographer licence maintanance.

From talking to couple friends of mine so far I've heard numbers in a range of $14-42/per CPU.
It looks like a huge range to me.

Just to give you an idea about the size of the enviroenmnt:
let's say in total we have about 100 CPUs across all the environments for MQ, 10 CPUs in total for the broker, 100CPUs for WAS and 10CPUs for WBISF

Pretty much all of these are currently at MQ 5.3.0.11, wbi MB 5.0.4, WAS 5.1.1.7, wbi SF(PC) 5.1.2 (I think).

If you don't feel comfortable posting your response in a open here on the forum I would appreciate if you could PBM me with a response.

Thanks and cheers!!!!!!!
Vitaliy

One thing I've learned in dealing with IBM as a customer, it's that nobody pays the same prices for the same software.

As I just said in your other thread, you need to determine if it's cheaper to move off MQ or stay with it. If it's cheaper to move off, then you should move off. But you need to understand at a very deep level how well the other product is going to meet your business needs - just like you need to understand at a very deep level how MQ meets your business needs - and factor that into your cost analysis.

And I promise you it's going to be more expensive to relicense MQ if you move off of it and then change your mind.

You don't have to be an IBM's customer and for that matter you don't have to be in software either to know that "... nobody pays the same price...". This is a very trivial thing to say.

I'd really appreciate if the scope of this topic stayed confined to the informative answers to the question: "how much do you pay for the license maintenance?"

If you are not involved in pricing and simply don't know how much your organization pays for maintanance, please just don't reply, don't say anything.

If you want discussion, please go to the original topic: there is a discussion that is already happening there.

I was trying to explain to you why it didn't matter what other people were paying - you won't get the same prices as another customer from IBM.

And don't forget that some deal agreements require your pricing to be confidential...
