Hi
We have a qmgr (v 5.3.09) on HPUX. lately the maxChannels has been reached. Reflected in the AMQERR01 as "The maximum number of channels that can be in use simoultaneously has ben reached"
(Actually this would mean the MaxActiveChannels has reached the limit not the MaxChannels)

In the qm.ini file the parameters are as follows:
-MaxChannels 50
-MaxActiveChannels 500

I am thinking of adjusting these to respectively 150 and 1000. My question is, is it sufficient to alter the parameter in the qm.ini file in order to get the effect I am looking for or is there other "stuff" i havent thought of?
Also, do the alterations in the ini file come into effect after restarting the qmgr and should the qmgr be down while editing?


Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks alot for the quick answer.

And there is nothing else I should think about while doing this except backing up the original ini file?
