Have you tried using MA01?

Have you tried searching for other answers to this same question?

I tried with the options provided in q utility. It works fine with single QMgr and I don't think there is option to transfer msgs across the QMgrs.

I tried MAOP MQ FTP Client support pac as well.Getting error when connecting to remote QMgr .Sent mail to author as support pacs are not officially supported.

I searched thru forum but there were no hits to transfer msgs across qmgrs.

There is no option(flag) to specify the remote Qmgr on remote machine in q utility .We have qc(client connection utility) which connects to remote QMgr but we can work on remote QMgr only can not transfer msgs across the QMgrs.

Is anybody familiar with using wmqftp client support pac?

No such option is required, simply DEF QR and fill out RQMNAME.

Why don't you tell us what you really want to do and why? Is this a one time thing? Do you want to duplicate messages? What is it you're trying to accomplish?
I get the feeling you are barking up the wrong tree with this one...

As I told in above post .I want to transfer msg from prod box QMgr to dev box QMgr and it needs to moved for another 10 days.We can't touch source code as if now as its coming from 3 rd party .they can not divert the traffic to dev box.We want test prod msgs in dev .

To simplify ,I want to tranfer msgs from one queue to another queue which are in two different qmgrs on two different servers.

I'm not clear about ur cmd.Can u pls rephrase.

Hi,

<Vendor_Plug>

Simple: 2 choices: GUI or command line.

GUI: Download MQ Visual Edit and do:
- Open source queue
- Select Messages
- Click File -> Backup Queue
- Input the path and filename i.e. stealing_prod_msg.veq
- Open target queue on different queue manager
- Click File -> Restore Queue
- Select the path and filename i.e. stealing_prod_msg.veq
Done.

Command-line: Download MQ Batch Toolkit and do the following:

- Add both queue managers
- mqbt Backup -blah -blah -blah
- mqbt Restore -blah -blah -blah
Done.

For more information on MQ Visual Edit or MQ Batch Toolkit or to download a free 30-day trial of either, go to:

</Vendor_Plug>

The MQ Visual Edit application is a shareware product. The free trial period is for 30 days (no nag screens). All features are available but you are limited to 1 queue manager

I think during trial period only one QMgr profile can be saved.May be I can try backup the msg on one qmgr and edit QMgr profile for other QMgr and restore msg to a diff queue.[/b]

Hi,

Yes, you can edit the queue manager's profile but during the trial, you are limited to 1 profile. When you purchase a license for MQ Visual Edit, you can have an unlimited number of queue manager profiles.

Let me see if I got this straight - for the next 10 days or so, you want all traffic arriving at a certain queue on your prod box diverted to two remote queues, on two remote servers, right?

Well, in that case, using any such backup-restore util doesn't seem appropriate at all, since it has to be done manually; if you just want to do this once per day, it's ok - go with what Roger told ya, they're good products.
If you need something a bit more robust, you need to do two things: duplicate messages arriving to your prod queue and send them across your net. Concerning duplication see copying a message, concerning remote queues read on.

Well, I hope you know what a remote queue is, otherwise you'll just have to read about it in the manuals and on this site, no use of me producing another explanation when so many are available.
But assuming you know what a remote queue is, you should know what a "DEF QR" is as well - you see, at the time, you did not specify that you want to send the message to *two* destinations, so I thought you could simply delete the application queue on your prod server and create a remote queue instead, this will direct everything that was supposed to be sent to that queue to your dev system.
However, since you need to duplicate, this is irrelevant, so look at the link I posted; but you must know all about QREMOTE before you do anything, this is basic MQ knowledge, and essential here.

His point was that you can use regular MQ networking to connect the two queue managers, and then you can use VisualEdit to connect to ONE qmgr, and COPY messages TO the qremote, and THUS copy them to the OTHER qmgr.

With q.exe you can use it as a client program to unload messages from a remote qmgr, and write those msgs to a file.
Them you can use it again to load that file onto a different queue, in a different qmgr.

I did it in the past and it worked, there is a flag (-l). See the readme file for MA01.

Yep, and not only that - I was implying that copying these messages manually may not be the best solution, and that you may want a more infrastructur-ish solution, such as sending the messages automatically to the new destination, using your regular MQ setup...

Concerning the whole "I know QREMOTE all too well" rave - do not take offence, if you hang around this forum long enough you'll see that many people here don't know anything about QRs, and that I had no way of telling the state of your MQ-savviness. Tragically It seems that you refrained from reading the actual content of my post, which is a shame really - I was only trying to help.
