Hi. I currently have a production issue where a SAN change has caused problems. The queue managers use circular logging and each one requires a log thatis not there - hence the AMQ7017 error message.

Curiously though I have logs that go back at least a year in the filesystem - can't imagine why it would need anything older than this to restart.

Logging parms are:

CIRCULAR
Primary 50
Secondary 1

I've advised that we need a back up of the filesystem. If this fails I guess we need to recreate the qmgrs? Can anyone confirm please?

That doesn't really make sense.

Which means it uses the same, 50 in your case, logs over and over. But you also say:

Which implies linear.

If you are actually using linear logs, and didn't realise it, then it's entirely possible that the QM wants to go back to the very first one used for a recovery, because you won't have been doing the steps necessary to keep the linear logs managable.

If you can't recover from the backup, then recreating the QMs is your only "official" answer, which will also give you the chance to change the logs to linear. You could search the forum for "unofficial" ways to recover.

Cheers,

Definately circular logging. Just noticed the 04 logs are for a 'training' qmgr.

Thanks for the advice. No backup seems to be available so looks like I'll have to recreate.

Thanks Eddie

I managed to recover the qms in the end by creating a dummy queue manager and copying the logs and log header over.
