For a while now I've been searching for a tool (free, cheap or otherwise) that will allow a user to view messages in a queue much the same way certain tools view records in a database. While the inherent differences of the technologies won't truly allow anything that comprehensive, it would seem that browsing all messages in a queue, and providing a way to re-order a GUI display based on specific MQMD propeties, is certainly possible. Functionality to search for a specific string within a message could be useful, also.
I've used the ih03 support pac (RFHUtil), which is great as far as it goes. But it doesn't even allow for requesting a specific message ID, although I think this could be added relatively easily.
Does anyone have any feedback on tools they've discovered, purchased or created? Any unanticipated challenges encountered along the way?
Any feedback is appreciated -

I found MQJExplorer to be a great tool, but it seems IBM doesn't want to distribute it. It was written by one of the users on this site (who works for IBM), the URL is: http://www.kolban.com/mqjexplorer
Perhaps if enough people complain to IBM that they are sitting on this great tool, maybe they'd release it???

I for one loved MQJE. Maybe if enough of our posters reply saying they would use it, need it, buy it, and/or support it, IBM will release it.

Apparently, the author of MQJExplorer at the site you were kind enough to post has decided to halt distribution. Also, it seems any copies out there would have expired by now.
Based on the documentation, this looks like an excellent tool. I too can only hope that it will become available again, perhaps for purchase...?
Thanks very much to those who replied - and any other sugggestions on tools would be welocme.

Thanks for the kind words on MQJExplorer ... it ain't dead and its being actively enhanced. When it becomes available again, it will be better than ever .... expect some good news by the end of July.
