I've managed to install the new WMQI 5.0 (incl. CSD01) on a Linux server.
I am not happy about it because:
I still need the ConfigManager. This product is still only available under NT or Win2000...
Even the CommonTooling with Eclipse is only available under Windows. This is hard to accept, as Eclipse is based on Java technology and 'should' run on a wide range of plattforms.
I can't see any changes in the WMQI architecture. Still the need of two operating systems, two databases, etc.
I see that the new broker has some new functionality. IBM sales persons called it 'a new product', in the end it is just an upgrade from 2.1.
Let's call it 2.2...
Regards,

The news letters about WBIMB 5.0 told, that the eclipse plugin is running on Windows and Linux.
Is this not the case? |

I was told at the T&M that the ConfigMgr and the v5 Control Center were only Windows specific apps.
There is apparently platform specific code in some of the UI.
If you are unhappy with this (which I am, but not a lot), file a PMR or feature request with IBM. |
