Hi,
Currently, in all my message flows, my trace are set to write into files... Question is, is there a way to turn trace on or off externally without modifying the trace nodes in the message flows?
Thanks! |

HI Lung,
When you DataFlowEngin and the trace is still on, you may can try to delete the trace file from the directory you store without any deployment at the Control Center, Next message will not log into the trace file.
Next time if you want the trace file on again, just go to message flow amend some setting and do the deployment. Then the trace files will come out again. This is waht i try before at HPUX broker, i not sure you is same as my or not. May be some other can give us more easy way for it.
Good Luck.

This might now work on NT as the files are open and they are being used by the Broker, hence you cannot delete them. _________________ Kiran

My broker and trace files are on an OS/390 USS partition...
But I don't get what you mean... Are you saying that if I delete the trace files, the broker will not write the trace anymore? How so? |

If you make a right mouse click on the trace node choose "transfer properties". After transfering the properties you want, the information is available on the tab "properties" in the message flow by right mouse
click.
There you can switch traces on and off and change the trace directories.
But still in a production environment the messageflow properties
have to be changed and deployed again.
The propertie transfer is also available for Queues and so on.

Thanks for the info, but my aim here is to be able to turn the traces on/off without re-deploying the message flow
Anyway, on the OS/390 USS environment, I notice that the broker will only write to a trace file if the trace file is under the ownership of the broker. Meaning, if I delete off the trace file and re-create it under my user-id, the broker will not write the trace any longer. This also happens if I delete off the trace file but did not re-create the file. Is this how it's supposed to work?
How can I make the broker write the trace file again... Without stopping and restarting the broker? |
