Hi,
I have just noticed that the v5 message brokers product is not fully supported on NT...

For message broker and user name server, one of the following:
...
IBM WebSphere MQ for Microsoft Windows NT ®,Version 5.3 and Microsoft Windows NT Server,Version 4.0 (with Service Pack 6a)
or Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional,Server and Advanced Server (with Service Pack 3) |
BUT...

For message brokers toolkit for WebSphere Studio and configuration manager support:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional,Server and Advanced Server (with Service Pack 3)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 1) |
... No mention of NT here. Given that the new tooling is the highlight, I was rather hoping to use that and the v5 configmgr with our WMQI 2.1 brokers on AIX. Unfortunately we still have NT workstations. Does anyone know why this is not supported? And, is it worth raising the issue with IBM?
Cheers,
Vicky |

I was under the impression that none of the WBI-MB components were supported on Windows NT since I believe this operating system is now out of service (correct me if I am wrong). Where are these quotes taken from, and if they have been taken from the announcement letter then have you checked to see if a corrections have been made to this document.
In this announcement letter the following is written for what is included in each of the packages :
Quote: |
WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker V5.0 CD-ROMs for Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux-Intel, and Linux-z/OS
|
...and these do not mention Windows NT at all.
It may be worth getting clarification from the IBM support team. However, the WBI-MB/EB tooling is based on Eclipse technology which I do not believe is supported at all on NT for any product it is used in. Therefore I do not believe this is a WBI-MB/EB specific restriction. _________________ Regards

Fair enough. I'll hassle PC support here for an OS upgrade.
Thanks,
