Is there any difference between authorizations of process creator and process starter?

I think Process Creator has implicit authorizations like, he can delete a PI if not yet started, refresh, query, start. Process Starter has to be given explicit authorizations. We need to specify a process Starters authorizations.

Correct me if I am wrong

Andy/Ratan:

I am a little bit confused here.

What is the difference between the Process Creator and the Process Starter? To me they are the same. IF you were to Create an instance as say user ADMIN, then Start it as user GOLD the Process Administrator would be GOLD. It is the Starter of the instance who will become the PA assuming that no PA is specified in the FDL.

To my knowledge if you Create an instance the only special authority that you do have is the ability to Delete the instance if it is not yet started.

Of course you couldn't create or create and start an instance unless you had authorization to the Category, or the instance did not have a category assigned (a mistake IMHO).

Please let me know if you are aware of any distinction that is made anywhere in the doc between Process Creator and Process Starter.

THANKS

John,
You made the statement that they are the same and then looks like you are conflicting your own statement. .

My understanding is the creator will have some implicit authorizations like delete etc, whereas for starter you can give the authorizations you want. I think you said the same thing. .

Ratan:

What I probably should have said was: "To me the creator and starter are almost always the same person." I.e We use Template::createAndStart() as opposed to Template::create() and Instance::start()

It is only when they are different that we have an issue here, and it is my contention that it is the Starter who gets the extra authority the Creator has no "implicit" authority with the instance once it is started.

Hopefully this is more clear.
