Hi All,
Here I have simple concern about number of channels..!
I have multiple client applications, which should point to one single queue for doing MQPUT operation.
For this is it better to have one SVRCONN channel for each client application or one SVRCONN for all the client applications.?
Any comments in terms of considering the performance and maintenance issues on this would be great to receive ..Thanks..

Here's my opinion:
You should be able to have several clients connect to the one channel with no performance issues. Of course, the exact number will vary depending on how many clients you have, and what platform the server is on.
If it looks like performance starts to decline drastically, then you can try adding one more SRVCONN channel and dividing the clients between the two.
But you won't ever want to have one SRVCONN for each client. From a maintenance point of view, it will be much easier to have only one SRVCONN channel. The performance will probably also be much worse if you have multiple SRVCONNs.

IMHO for WMQ 5.3 you shouldn't be worry.
In older versions it depends on platform, kind of listener (runmqlsr or inetd),
also if you want to be able to stop some client connection without disturbing the other then you need to use diffirent channels.

Thanks John and Leonid for the commnets on this..
We are running MQ on Sun Solaris with 30 remote clients will be writing to one queue. And we have configured a MDB in Weblogic which will fire and read the queue. For these remote clients and MDB we will go ahead with one SVRCONN channel and will see if any problems comes, then I will think about multiple channels!.
