Open Buildtime
Select network tab
Domain -> YourGroup -> YourSystem -> Right click
New User Defined PES
Fill in the details in GENERAL tab
Select message queueing tab to fill in the QUEUE name and QMGR name
:::::::
Now if you want an automated activity assigned to UPES
Goto the properties of the activity
Select the Execution tab
uncheck User Program Execution Agent
select "server" button and select the UPES (you may click on the torch light button for the list)
Is that what you need or do you need anything else |

Prahasith:
One small item missing from Venny's list for the Activity.
You should make the Start "Automatic". This is done on the Start tab.

I have never run UPES but I think following should also be taken care apart from what Venny said:
1.In Program Properties-Data Tab, you need to specify "Program can run unattended"
2.The QManager and Queue you assigned in Buildtime exists in MQ series else create it manually using MQ series utilities.
3.Restart the workflow server after importing the FDL into runtime(I am not sure about it)
3.Write a simple application(UPES) using MQseries APIs which reads ur UPES queue and run it after flow reached to UPES activity. (Or u can just check for messages in the particular queue using MQSeries API Exersicer)
Thats all I think _________________

FYI Restart the workflow server is NOT necessary. _________________ John McDonald

John, are you sure about this. I dont remember if I had to restart the workflow server. But I am assuming because it is a domain level setting, we might have to start the workflow server. _________________ -Ratan |

Ratan:
The only time you need to restart is when you change a Domain, System Group or System setting. Not if you just add a new UPES. I guess I could be remembering wrong, but I am about 90% certain of this without running a test.
The bigger issue is making sure you define the Qmgr/Queue in MQ. _________________ John McDonald

UPES is just a reference definition and should not need any server restart..
