I just read this in the Systems admin book
Quote: |
On UNIX platforms, a special user ID of mqm is also created, which is intended for use by the product only. It should never be available to non-privileged users. All objects are owned by user ID mqm. |
I use mqm all the time to administer a unix box - what's the worst that could happen? Should I create me a new ID, and leave mqm alone?
Thanks |

I don't know what you mean by this but if you are using this user id to act as an MQSeries administrator then that's the way to do it.
finger mqm returns
Login name: mqm In real life: MQSeries Administrator |

Ok, thanks... I just couldn't make sense out of what was written in hte sys admin guide (the quote in my original message). It sounded to me like I should leave that ID alone for 'processes' and 'crons' etc. and create a new one for administration.
Thanks again
