Hi,
I am presently working on a project where we need to convert the orbix
S/W to MQ-series.Our mainframe system uses Orbix.I dont have much idea about why they are converting to mqseries from orbix.
The application basically sends a stream of data from a client server system to the mainframe, then a program retrieves the stream from orbix and links to another cics program passing the datastream in the commarea.A return code is generated and placed in the COMMAREA and returned via ORBIX to indicate the success or failure of transactions.
Can you please let me know what the Orbix software is doing and the advatages of converting to MQ-SERIES. One advantage i see is Orbix can be used only for synchronous communication whereas MQ'S we can use even when the CICS region is down,so that whenever the region comes up
the data in queues is processed but i am not sure about this.
I would like to know if Orbix also uses queues in this regard. Please let me know how orbix works in this context.
