YES, this can be done.
There has been a lot of discussion on the subject of MQSIv2 accessing DB2 on OS390.
In summary, yes MQSIv2 can :
-> query DB2 on OS390 (SELECT)
-> update DB2 on OS390 (INSERT,UPDATE and DELETE)
This can be done from a broker running on any of the Windows (NT + 2000) or
Unix (AIX, Solaris or HP-UX) platforms.
What you have to do is configure a DB2 Client connection from the broker platform
to access the DB2 server on OS390. This is NOT specific to MQSI, but you need to
be aware of the userid and password which will be used to access the userdb. In this
case these come from the mqsicreatebroker command. The details of this are contained
in the following thread :
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=115&forum=7
One other important point that is worth noting is that MQSI supports accessing
DB2 on OS390 where DB2 is at version v6.1 or higher.
