We have a process template in which I have different activites. if an activity is reached ( which you can see with a green arrow and a tick mark), if I click on the activity, I can see various details like container values, start/stop times. if the activity is not reached say it with "red down arrow", if I click on it I am getting a "page not found error".
As a programmer my understanding is that it should show a a page with all the fields and balnk content. This particular scenario I never tested, i was always used to click on activities with green tick mark.
Please let me know If it is normal to get "page not found error" when one clicks on the activities that are not yet processed |

No, it is not normal. I am not sure with the version you are using.
If I click an activity not yet started I get the activity details like Staff, exit conditions,........ i/p and o/p containers will be empty though.

Ok.. I think I have missed important step.
I have a block activity. So when I cliked on the block activity even though it is not reached, I could see the details like you have mentioned. Then I see a "monitor" icon to check the individual activities contained. I clicked on the monitoricon and I now see individual activities contained in the block. When I clik on individual activities, at this point.. I am finding page not found error |

That I guess is common. I have 3.3.2 with SP2 and it says object doesn't exist. You should be OK I guess.
