When I use the WatchQ support pack to put messages to a distributed QM, the messages are immediatly available. If I put them to z/OS, the messages are not available until they have all been put.

So its pretty obvious that WatchQ is not specifying the MQPMO_NO_SYNCPOINT option. But WatchQ is a client application that is running on a distributed platform. Is it true that any client app will pickup the default syncpoint option of the Queue Manager it is connected to, and not that of the platform it is actually running on? The manuals say nothing about this specifically.

If neither this option nor MQPMO_NO_SYNCPOINT is specified, the
inclusion of the put request in unit-of-work protocols is determined by the
environment:
v On z/OS, Compaq NonStop Kernel, and VSE/ESA, the put request is
within a unit of work.
v In all other environments, the put request is not within a unit of work.

The Client App is not "on" z/OS. It is connected "to" z/OS. I guess you have to read between the lines???

If by client, you mean an MQSeries client that is connecting to a listener, then the client is really running on the platform where the queue manager is. As the clients come into the queue manager, MQ will start up an agent to handle the tcp/ip on one side and the calls to the queue manager on the other.
