Hi, I want to use JMS with WebSphere. Currently I have WAS AE4.0.5. options for OS: AIX and WinNT/Win2000. I would basically use JMS pub/sub Topics. I am using MQ JMS now. I want to know if i can choose Embedded JMS over MQ JMS. Can anyone tell me about the performance issues regarding these options? Any 'watch-outs' or warnings? Any inputs would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!! |

Embedded JMS is a "bundling" of the MQ 5.3 product and a variant of the WMQ Event Broker product. This bundling is only available with WAS 5. If you are running an earlier version of WAS, you'll need to install MQ and one of the brokers (MA0C, WMQ EB, WMQI).
As far as performance is concerned, I know that the WMQEB is tailored for high-speed pub/sub for non-durable subscribers. According to a presentation at the MQ conference, this engine is supposed to work its way into the WMQI product.
One other gotcha, is the fact that the embedded JMS has a license restriction that prohibits you from using it to talk to a regular MQ. It is only for communication inside of WAS. |
