We currently have 2 systems setup on our test box with so we can do changes in 1(sys02) and prod support in the other(sys01). Is it possible
to have essentially the same process model on 2 different systems?
My initial thinking is yes since on import to sys01 I would make reference to sys01 in the server and process imports and make reference to sys02 in the fdl for the import to sys02. Am I out to lunch? Is there any gotchas here?

I don't think you can do that.

You can do it with two GROUPs but not with Two SYSTEMS in a same group.

Rude,

I dont exactly understand what you are trying to do. Any imports you do are the group level. So if you make any changes at the group level, they apply to both systems unless you override the settings at a system level. Any processes will be available to both the systems.
