Does anyone know if MQ 5.3 is certified on 64-bit AIX? Our hardware is IBM pSeries (p670 for dev/test and p690 for prod).
I found conflicting statements in the Websphere MQ for AIX v5.3 Quick Beginnings. The Hardware requirements section states:
WebSphere MQ for AIX, V5.3 runs on any machine that supports the AIX V4.3.3 PowerPC(R) 32-bit, or AIX V5.1 Power 32 bit only operating system, whether from IBM or other vendors.
whereas the Prerequisite software section states:
The operating systems supported by WebSphere MQ for AIX, V5.3 are:
AIX V4.3.3, with PTF U472177, running in a 32 bit environment, on 32 or 64 bit hardware.
AIX V5.1, with PTFs U476879, U477366, U477367 and U477368, and APAR fix IY29345 running 32 bit kernel running on 32 or 64 bit hardware.
AIX V5.1, with PTF U476879, U477366, U477367 and U477368, and APAR fix IY29345 running 64 bit kernel running on 64 bit hardware.
We need to use a 64-bit environment because we need Oracle 9.2, which is only certified as 64-bit for AIX.
So...can we do it? Even better, is anyone else out there doing it?

I'm still looking for an answer to this, if anyone can help!
Support pack MACS enables MQ 5.2 to connect to 64-bit apps on AIX 4.3.3. Unfortunately, we're running MQ 5.3 on AIX 5.1. |
