Hi,
I read that "the name service allows an application to open remote queues for output as if they were local queues" !!!
what is the benefit and/or the use of this feature?
how to install it?
thanks for advices.

I have never heard of the "name service" in the context of MQSeries remote queues. Do you have a reference where we can find this description? |

I found it in the
WebSphere MQ System Administration Guide
Chapter 20 - name service.

Name service is installable sevice that extends default MQSeries name service behavior.
By default, if you wants to send message to remote destination you need one of the following :
local remote queue definition,
xmitQ as remote qmgr name,
qmgr alias,
default xmitQ.
If you have DCE or your own name service installed then after passing all above steps looking for your queue
it will be searched in the name service directory.
Of course, the original destination queue must be defined SCOPE(CELL), not SCOPE(QMGR) as by default.
When the queue name found in the directory also its qmgr name is returned.
BTW you still need xmitQ and pair of channels to send message to it. _________________ Regards.
