I know this is a tough question. But with 5 years of experience, whats the current trend in the market. And how much is good enough. MQ* certified. Job in WMQ.

Later...

Unfortunately I could only comment on what a fair salary might be for someone working in the SF Bay Area, because I haven't worked outside of it. I'm not knowledgeable in all the cost of living differences between various parts of the US, let alone the world. And even the SF Bay Area salaries are all over the place because of the fact that there are so few job openings and so many people trying to get them. Some companies figure they can get a real knowledgeable person on the cheap because as one Venture Capitalist I know put it "They should just be grateful to even have a job." Of course he's so rich he doesn't know what it means to have to pay the bills, etc...

Thank you Brandon for your response.

Could you share your thoughts on the approximate figures around the industry at this moment. If you can, let me and the forum know of the figures that you know of from which ever place it be in the Continental US.

Now this is just my educated guess, and feel free to tell me why I'm wrong, right, etc... Assuming one could even get a tech job in the bay area right now (and that's a big if!) and the employer isn't trying to lowball you because they know there are a bunch of other guys out there wanting the same job, then someone with a few years of legitimate MQ experience (API programming, queue manager administration) and perhaps a certification or two, I would venture to guess 70-90k for full time employment. Contract work would obviously be quite a bit higher. My knowledge of the Southern California market would probably dictate 10k lower for cost of living differences for the same job. Outside of California my guess is just as good as yours...

Brandon,

That was a well formed answer. Thanks again.

I know things are pretty tight out there. And as you pointed out number of candidates approaching a job also has increased in the past few years.
