I have a situation. Data Power with CCSID at 819, QMGR with CCSID 819 set up in Plano, TX. DP does a get w/ convert and DP is throwing an error indicating character at position 2234 in the payload is invalid. I was told is is an 'e' with a hyphen above it. So it seems like a foreign character of well out of the range of CCSID 819. So this message comes in every so often and they get an error on it.
Here is the kicker. They change the CCSID on the DP machine to 1208 and they get an error on EVERY message read from the queue indicating there is a parsing error on the first character in the message.
Here is the second kicker. They have an exact system set up in Winchester but the DP machine is set up with 1208. Seems they had a similar problem a little over a year ago and changing it to 1208 fixed the issue. They did change both DP machines to 1208 but for some reason the change did not take on the Plano machine and it has been running all this while with 819. It processes the messages without an issue?
They are changing the DP configuration to make use of the back-out queue so we can see a copy of the message. They way it is set up now. They are discarding the message.
So, I am perplexed that they changed the CCSID to 1208 on the DP machine and every message now catches a parsing error on the first character in an XML message. Any idea on this?
Out of range can be when UTF-8 sends a two-byte character. Describing the CCSID as 819 does not make it so. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.
