Hi Folks,
My requirement is to have a MIQM on RHEL and EMC VNX storage for shared filesystem
- MQ version is 9.1.0.2
- The shared drive was mounted as NFSv4.1.
- Filesystem Locking Policy was changed from "Mandatory" to "Advisory" as per statement here
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/testing-statement-ibm-mq-multi-instance-queue-manager-file-systems
- amqmfsck testing all passed
The issue however is when trying to start the QMGR's, both the servers are able to obtain lock on master and active files thus starting the respective QMGR's as if they are standalone.
testing scenario
on server1:
strmqm -x QM1
obtain write (W) lock master
obtain read (R) lock active
[[NONP]mqm@applu0012 /MQHA/data/QM1]$ dspmq -xf
QMNAME(QM1) STATUS(Running)
INSTANCE(applu0012) MODE(Active)
master(applu0012,6757891187807564601)
active(applu0012,6757891187807564601)
[[NONP]mqm@applu0012 AEDT /MQHA/data/QM1]$
on server2:
strmqm -x QM1
obtain write (W) lock master
obtain read (R) lock active
[[NONP]mqm@applu0013 /MQHA/data/QM1]$ dspmq -xf
QMNAME(QM1) STATUS(Running)
INSTANCE(applu0013) MODE(Active)
master(applu0013,6757891312364689441)
active(applu0013,6757891312364689441)
[[NONP]mqm@applu0013 AEDT /MQHA/data/QM1]$
They are both running for a couple of minutes and eventually crash due to inconsistent data.
I had case with IBM at the moment regarding this, but trying to seek advise from other folks who had the same setup for MIQM against EMC VNX.
Note that we have a working MIQM setup with GPFS2 as backend and MQ running on AIX, but it will be replaced by this new setup.
Anything that needs to be checked further on EMC VNX to support MIQM?
Appreciate any advise. |

When the "amqmfsck" passed successfully and the QMgrs are started correctly with "strmqm -x", only one Server should be able to take the QMgr ressources. Otherwise this is a defect and you should raise a PMR at IBM. _________________ Regards
