The same way you'd patch any other piece of software while it's running.
Or "no" if you prefer.
Best practice is generally held to be to patch the "other" server in your high availability solution, fail over to that and then patch the primary. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I should have gone through the documentation before asking question(my mistake).

I am wondering about whether i really need to switch to root/superuser for this package installation in Linux, can't I just do it with mqm user? |

It's very unusual for any software on Linux not to be owned by root and doubly so for anything installed via any of the various package management systems.
This isn't an MQ thing, it's a Linux thing. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Maybe I should have rephrase my question, is there a way to install Fix Pack of MQ using "mqm' user? |

No, because from a Linux point of view, MQ is just another piece of installed software so it's owned by root. The mqm user may be a high value user to MQ but to Linux it's just another user who isn't root. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
