Built out a Multi-instance IIB configuration ontop of MIQM using the UNC* shared drives in Windows 2012 R2 servers. The latency when creating IS (execution groups) or deploying bar files became very apparent. Is this a support configuration? or even recommended?
2x
IIB version 10.0.0.11
MQ 9.0.0.3
Windows (64bit) 2012 R2
shared drive i.e. \\mynet4\IIB_MQ_Logs\IIB
Should they be using option 2
1) VMware SCSI Bus sharing – This allows using a VMware VMDK shared between two or more Virtual Machines. This will allow both VMs to see the same disk for concurrent Read Writes
2) NFS Volumes using iSCSI targets – This process allows mounting an NFS volume from SAN using iSCSI protocol over an ethernet network. Once mounted this disk becomes a local disk for each server that needs to share the volume.
3) Raw Device Mapping – This allows allocating a Raw device coming from SAN storage to the VMs directly. This allows writing to the SAN storage directly without the disk being carved from a VMFS datastore.
Reference:
*Microsoft Windows uses the following types of paths: local file system (LFS), such as C:\File. uniform naming convention (UNC), such as \\Server\Volume\File or / <internet resource name>[\Directory name] _________________ Doug Drake
