I have a queue manager that was stopped via endmqm -w, the queue manager is not stopping. Looking at the process table, it appears that the reason is because "amqzxma0" is not stopping. I can see that process has several child process that are also still there.
There should be nothing connected to MQ, all other applications that would be using it are not running. Does anyone have any advice to help me figure out why this process won't stop? |

One of the applications didn't disconnect cleanly
One of the MQ processes didn't stop cleanly
One of the semaphores / memory segments MQ uses is hung up.
Work your way up through endmqm -i through endmqm -p through the instructions on the safe use of kill -9 for MQ processes (as laid out in the MQ documentation). Look for log messages about what had to be aborted to make this commands work. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

This has been a reoccuring problem, though its rare. I have been going through the kill -9 process up to this point to resolve, but I was hoping to find the root of what was causing it all to hang in the first place. |

Can you try something like
to see what processes are still connected to your Queue Manager and may be preventing it from coming down ?
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke
