Hi,
I have been working with WebSphere MQSeries v5.3 for linux/intel. I can create/start a queue manager successfully. However I am unable to start a broker process. It simply says the broker process is not active. Any idea why it is not active??
Many Thanks.

Unix group 'mqm' and user 'mqm' are already exist. I don't understand the following error message in AMQERROR1.LOG:
===========================
01/27/03 10:59:38
AMQ5896: Unknown attribute for MQSeries Publish/Subscribe broker configuration
parameter GroupId.
EXPLANATION:
The broker has attempted to create stream 'SYSTEM.BROKER.DEFAULT.STREAM
' belonging to group 'nobody ', this group is unknown.
ACTION:
Modify the attribute for broker configuration parameter GroupId, to a group
that exists, or create the group 'nobody '.
----- amqfqxaa.c : 1141 -------------------------------------------------------
01/27/03 10:59:38
AMQ5855: MQSeries Publish/Subscribe broker ended.
EXPLANATION:
An attempt has been made to run the broker (qOasis) but the broker has ended
for reason '5896:frcE_UNKNOWN_GROUP_ID'.
ACTION:
Determine why the broker ended. The message logs for the queue manager might
contain more detailed information on why the broker cannot be started. Resolve
the problem that is preventing the command from completing and reissue the
strmqbrk command. |

It looks like you used the default broker configuration stanza which specifies the group "nobody". This group is usually specified when you want NO access. You will need to change the configuration file to reflect the actual Unix group that you want to be used for authority checking.
Whatever you do, do not create the group "nobody"! If you do, you may find that everyone with a login ID has access to your QMgr. _________________ -- T.Rob
