can MQ IPT be configured to do SSL to connect to a SSL enabled SDR/RCVR channel on the other side or does the SSL on the other side need to terminate at another MQ IPT endpoint ?

e.g
1)

MQ server (sender channel) -> IPT (SSL enabled) -> MQ server (RCVR channel SSL enabled)

Is above possible..
or does it always need to be

2)
MQserver (sender channel) -> IPT (SSL enabled ) -> IPT (SSL enabled RCVR side) || MQ server

I know 3) is possible..my question is on 1)

MQ server (SSL sender channel) -> IPT (SSL enabled handler) -> MQ server (RCVR channel SSL enabled)

This will not work. The reason for it is because you end up with a double encryption on the wire.
The message is first encrypted by the sender channel and then by the IPT handler....
