First step - upgrade to MQ v8.
Next step, review the documentation on how to browse messages.
Next step, reconsider your need to browse messages.
Next step, ask the development team to implement a solution that doesn't require MQ v5.3
Next step, find a lot of tools that let you browse messages. Test them all. Determine which ones work.
Next step, upgrade to MQ V8.
Next step, write your own program to browse messages.
Next step, get a different job or work for another client. Explain to the current employer/client that their use of MQ v5.3 exposes their company to far too much risk for you to put yourself in the position of having to assume any of that risk or being responsible for any failures or outages or other incidents.
Next step, upgrade to MQ v8.

Search the filesystem where your aged version of MQ is installed, you will find a variety of supplied sample programs. amqsbcg is a browse utility.

| It is possible that this is an HP NonStop Server which is the only MQ 5.3 that is still valid. I have come across this about a year ago and it has some unpleasant surprises but you can make it work. |
