So since I have a MQ7.1 and MQ8 side by side installed on a box, I was wondering that if I migrate queues from 7.1 to 8, can I go back to 7.1 if necessary? |

Take an attribute dump of one of your V7.1 queues and use that to define the same queue in a V8.0 queue manager.
Take the attribute dump of the V8.0 queue and play spot the difference with that of the attribute dump of the V7.1 queue, then ask the question again.
Edit: Do the same for a V7.1 queue manager's attributes and a V8.0 queue manager's attributes, but I think you already know the answer. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

You mean the queue definitions? Or the data... ?
The v7.1. definitions will apply just fine to the v8 queue manager, and the v7.1. queue manager. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

You can't migrate an actual queue manager back to an earlier version. You would have to restore QM data to do that.
If you save the v8 queue definitions as MQSC, you can re-create them in v7.1 but newer v8 attributes won't be supported (and you may have to edit the MQSC script to remove them).
But unless you use the new v8 features, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |
