Hi,
We have 4 QMgrs(QM1, QM2, BR1, BR2) in a cluster called V7CLUS running on MQ v7. Broker (v7) runs on BR1, BR2. BR1 & BR2 are hosting full repos as well.
We are dealing with request/ reply scenario. Source application(s) connects to MQ managers on QM1 & QM2 and put request message on cluster queue defined on broker QMgrs. Broker processes the message and respond back to the response queue using replytoQueue and replytoQueueManager fields of request message. The response message should go back to either QM1 or QM2 where ever the request originated from.
Now we are planning to upgrade MQ and broker on broker machines (MQ v7 to v8 and broker v7 to IIB v9) which is a parallel install and create new QMgrs/ brokers. We are also creating dedicated full repos on different machines to host MQ v8 cluster full repos.
Source app which connects to QM1 & QM2 are external and not ready to upgrade to MQv8. Is there anyway we can overlap the clusters MQ v7 Qmgrs (QM1 & QM2) with the new V8 cluster and still able to use request/ reply scenario?.
If old broker Qmgrs - BR1 & BR2 are part of both old and new cluster, the request can be routed to old vs new using PUT(DISABLED) on request queue (which is a cluster queue).
Question: How to route the reply message onto response queue which is on MQ v7 (using replytoQueue/ replytoQueueManager fields of MQMD).
Please provide your thoughts. Thank you. |

Is this your current configuration? Or is this a proposed configuration?
If this is your current configuration, is this configuration working successfully now at v7 qmgrs? If so, it should work precisely the same at v8 qmgrs. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

If you are replacing existing queue managers in a cluster with new queue managers with the same name... or even just removing a queue manager from a cluster, then make sure to unshare all queues, let that propagate, then the qmgr, then stop the clussdr, then stop the clusrcvr. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

I assume the new QMs for the IB9 Brokers will have new names for those QMs.
The new dedicated FRs in the MQ 8 cluster will have new names for those QMs.
The new MQ 8 cluster will be named differently than the MQ 7 cluster.
Yes, QM1 and QM2 can participate in both the old and the new clusters.
There is no need to put the old WMB 7 Broker QMs in the new cluster.
Request/Replies will work just fine.
Good on you for creating dedicated Full Repository QMs in your new cluster. _________________ Peter Potkay
