Get your own country - that's the answer, or at least an island.

My wife is very keen to retire to an island. I can only hope this is the reason, rather than the lack of law enforcement based investigative services that would facilitate her paying off the mortgage on said island with my life assurance following a tragic coconut-related accident.

We certainly are. Hiding money from my wife is a joke. She's the result of a forbidden union between a bloodhound and a lie detector.

Especially the admitting and confessing. Absolutely not doing that and I want my lawyer.

Richard Branson retired to Necker Island for the sake of his health (or was it his wealth?).

However in your case the Isle of Wight beckons.... actually there is a town somewere in New England with that name (although it is land-locked!).

I'm thinking more where this coconut accidently fell on my head and then, tragically, jumped up and fell on it again until my skull cracked

Lestrade to Sherlock:

"I've seen the guy's injuries, so just for my report how many times would you estimate he accidently fell out of your window after hitting Mrs Hudson?"

It's really not clear why you have such an issue with American. You know British, and British is just a dialect of American.
