I created a new queue manager on MQ 7.5 on Win2012. I then imported a queue manager from our old MQ server MQ 7.0 on Win 2003. I then received a CCSID error AMQ4052. I believe the default CCID on MQ 7.5 Win 2012 is 850 and I'm guessing I imported the CCSID from my queue manager on 7.0.1. If I change the CCSID to 850 will I encounter any issues in the future? |

What was the old QMGR CCSID?
Do all the applications use the CCSID_AS_DEFAULT setting when writing messages?
IF the old CCSID is different to the new default and the answer to the second question is Yes then you may well run into problems but it depents upon the content of your messages.
However, that is what proper testing is all about. Do some and you will soon find out for yourself. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

You also need to consider the applications CCSID and content. If going from 437 to 850 for example, make sure all characters can be sent correctly.
Also how are the receiver applications processing the message. Are they using the convert option in their GMO ? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Thanks for the replies. Yes going from 437 to 850.
Will thoroughly test to make there are no issues. Message contents is English with no other characters |

And you have checked that values of ALL alphanumeric characters in 437 map to the same values of the same alphanumeric characters in 850?
They are not always the same. It might save you a lot of angst to spend 20 minutes doing the above check. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Quote: |
Code page 850 differs from code page 437 in that many of the box drawing characters, Greek letters, and various symbols were replaced with additional Latin letters with diacritics, thus greatly improving support for Western European languages (all characters from ISO 8859-1 are included). At the same time, the changes frequently caused display glitches with programs that made use of the box-drawing characters to display a GUI-like surface in text mode, such as programs using Turbo Pascal. |
