Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a version 2 client available for windows ??? And if so, could someone provide with it. I can't find it on the IBM site.

Thanks....

Do you really mean version 2? I think you are looking for a version 5 client. Try the SupportPac page:

http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/txppacs/txpm2.html#cat1

and look for MACV.

NO, I really mean Version 2. The QueueManagers on our OS390 system are version 2.1. And I'm having some problems working with a version 5 client. Problem that do not exist when I have my client connect to a MQServer Version 5 on a Windows machine.

MVS Version 2.1 had it's own numbering system - it doesn't relate to the "open systems" numbering - it's not the same as version 2 on Windows NT, for instance.

AFAIK, client support is a "seperately-priced" feature on MVS. Do you have the client facility enabled? Look at the output log for the xxxxCHIN job, and see if it says CAF (Client Attachment Feature) is enabled.

If not, then it's time to spend money with IBM I'm afraid

No no, this facillity is installed and working correctly. It is just that during development of a new app. I'm having some problems doing firts a get, and then a put. This results in a reason code 2009. If I'm testing this app aginst V5.2.1 server on win2000 no problem exists.

This is not first time with CLients and MQS 2.1 for OS/390.

I've still got a version 5.0 client for Windows/NT which also works fine under windows/2000. If interested drop me a mail/message.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for the idea's people......

But I've figured out why it went wrong.... For some (desparate) reason I tried the code on another client machine. On this machine there were no problems at all. So I started wondering what the difference between tose machines could be.

The difference was :

On the machine returning reason code 2009 I had installed the client using the Server CDRom. On the other machine I installed the client using the client CDRom. So on my workstation (which was returning 2009) deinstalled client, and reinstalled client using te Client CDRom. All go's well now.

Did anybody ever notice there is a difference between those two client installation. Both version number I'm using is V5.2.1.

In my opinion this is a problem which should be reported to IBM. But I'm wondering if there are people who disagree.

Well if you read the manual it states that if you want client with server then use the server CD otherwise use client.

That's true.... On my workstation I had server running, that's why I used the server CD to Install client. But this results in the problem.

Are you saying you had MQ Server running and then installed the Server
Client version and it failed, that it should not do.
