I have a client that is trying to connect four of their Qmgrs on Linux to their business partners Qmgr on an HP Nonstop system. The client and business partner can only use NAT addresses to see each other's Qmgrs but must use local 10.x addresses to see their local Qmgrs.
If they use IP addresses in the CONNAME of their cluster receivers, then they can only talk to the business partner or the local Qmgrs but not both (as the IP address is different local vs business partner NAT). The normal solution is to add the NAT address and host name of the business partner's machines to the /etc/hosts file and that works fine for Linux.
When this is done on the HP Nonstop system, we cannot get the Qmgr to use the hosts file and it uses DNS (ignoring the hosts file). Oddly enough, they can use telnet on the HP Nonstop with the host name in the hosts file and get to the Clients MQ port.
Does anybody know how to get MQ on HP Nonstop to use the hosts file? |

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

The customer did with both IBM and HP... This is an IP stack issue, so it will most likely take HP to help us. |

OK, so HP got with the client and added a reference in the OSS to the HOSTS file and probably did some other stuff. Now it works. |

Can you provide more specific details? Especially regarding the 'other stuff' for the benefit of others? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I think his use of "probably" means "I don't know". _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |
