Hi, I want to install MQC8 without uninstalling existing MQ Server 6 from the linux machine. This is required to revert back the changes for connecting application to previous version of MQ 6 , if MQ8 client is not working. Currently , I had to uninstall MQ Server 6 before installing MQC8 on the machine.
The earliest version of MQ that supports coexistance is MQ v7.0.1.
If you are lucky you might be able to install the MQ v8 client into a separate directory than the v6 client. But I doubt you're lucky.
It's only officially supported for an older level of client to talk to a newer level of MQ, not the other way around.
The only problem you actually have is that you're running MQ V6 anywhere.
You need to upgrade that as soon as possible, or find a new job as soon as possible if they won't let you upgrade... _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx /
Any version and release of a WebSphere® MQ MQI client can connect to any version and release of a WebSphere MQ queue manager. The MQI channel is automatically configured to the latest version that both the client and server support. If the client and server are different versions, the client application must use only the functions in the earlier version.
