We are moving to WS MQ 5.3 and what a first release of it. Here's the senerio and the problem:
OS = Win2K AND NT [happens on both]
MQ version = 5.3.00 & 5.3.01

We build a broker on the QM. Start the broker using "strmqbrk -m MY_QM" and can run our applications perfectly.

However...
If we reboot the computer and re-start the broker, we get an

MQJMS5053 exception -- "*** No broker response"

in the JMS application (any and all JMS applications).

The MQ log the message is:

*****************************************************
----- amqxfdcp.c : 660 --------------------------------------------------------
01/03/03 14:29:19
AMQ7159: A FASTPATH application has ended unexpectedly.

EXPLANATION:
A FASTPATH application has ended in a way which did not allow the queue manager to clean up the resources owned by that application. Any resources held by the application can only be released by stopping and restarting the queue manager.
ACTION:
Investigate why the application ended unexpectedly. Avoid ending FASTPATH applications in a way which prevents WebSphere MQ from releasing resources held by the application.
************************************************

We used the endmqbrk command to make sure it quit nicely before rebooting, so it's not like we pulled the plug.

We are working with IBM on this, but I didn't know if anyone else had a simular problem and a solution.

Thanks.

Keith

After the reboot try issuing ipcs -a | grep mqm. If there are still references, do the ipcrm -(m) or (s) or (q) to remove them.

After working with IBM on this, there is a fix out for it -- just came out about 12/19/2003 and nobody seems to know about it. You can download csd01(u200181) from:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/mqseries/fixes/winnt530/

This looks like it has been fixed by the patch. Great news!
