I have a question regarding the behavior of a LISTENER object that is defined with CONTROL(QMGR). If for some reason the listener goes down while the queue manager is still running, will the queue manager try to restart it? I seem to remember either reading or hearing somewhere that it would, but I can’t find a definitive answer in the Command Reference

A quick trial and error would give you a relevant answer...

Yes, that is true. I was hoping to find some "official" IBM doco that covers it though.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the KC.

I think the listener itself atempts to restart if it can. but if someone blatantly kills the process, or it throws an fdc... not really sure that anything will restart it, other than a manual start.

This is the case with either runmqlsr or LISTENER objects.

Thanks, I was lookin for something concrete. I did have a listener go down with an FDC and I was wondering if defining the listener as an MQ object with CONTROL(QMGR) would have maybe caused it to restart. Doesn't look like it though.

Just because I didn't find it, doesn't mean it's not out there.

A PMR would be a good way to get an official answer.

I understand and thanks. We are engaging IBM support.
