I am running MQ 701 on Opensuse.
We have just started using a new sender receiver channel to an oversea partner (13 hours time difference). We scheduled an over night transmission to them. When I start work this morning, the channel is in inactive status which is expected due to disconnect interval. I want to know if the overnight transmission actually happened. I did the display channel status using both the current and saved parameter. It returns with AMQ8420: Channel Status not found. According to the manual (or info center) "Note that the saved status does not apply until at least one batch of messages has been transmitted on the channel.".
I have statistic turned on for the XMITQ and I can see the last PUT and GET time was 3 hour ago. This means that the channel has picked up the message from the XMITQ. There is no error indication anywhere on my side. I assume that the transmission has happened successfully. But why I cannot get some info on display channel status using saved parameter ? |

The manual should perhaps be modified. The statement should perhaps read something like "Note that the saved status does not apply until at least one recoverable batch of messages has been transmitted on the channel." or similar.
Essentially the channel will not write anything to the saved status (ie. log file) unless it has to since writing to the log file slows things down. If you have NPMSPEED(FAST) then that means that only when you move a persistent message. Is it possible the messages you sent last night were all non-persistent ?
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke

Or, that the channel you are displaying is not the channel accessing the XMITQ you are looking at. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Sender channel start and end times are recorded in the queue manager's error logs, unless you have disabled the log messages. _________________ Glenn |
