Our desktop environment is pretty flaky. Things can get completed wiped out and we have to re-install things all over again. Don't ask me why. Now development work is stalled when something like this happens to a developer workstation. Is there a way to have a toolkit installed on a common workstation and share it with users (like an image?) so that in case they loose the one on their workstation, they can still work with this shared toolkit while their workstation is being fixed.
am i talking virtual toolkit images? I don't know. Please share your thoughts. Thanks. |

Have them create a Toolkit setup (complete with source control plugin) on a virtual machine and then record the image. It will be much faster to restore... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

otherwise, yes, you could install toolkit on another machine on shared disk and then developers could restore it.
Or they could take a known, working, toolkit, and zip up the installed folder, and keep that. Then they could unzip and overwrite the broken one.
either way, if there are any significant changes to the toolkit install (additional plugins or etc. added) then this will not work without updates. |
