Any OS that makes file integrity optional is a pile of junk. |
Unix supports a large number of file systems, including a journalling file system.
NFSv3 doesn't support file locks... and it is a pile of junk.. .NFS v4 does better.
However, this problem has absolutely nothing to do with the file system. It's a basic characteristic of how the FTP server delivers the file to it's final location, as well as a basic problem with reading files in the first place.... In the general case, reading a file is a straightforward example of the Halting Problem. You only know that the file is safe to read when you know that the program writing it has halted. |

Not so much an issue with Unix/Linux as an issue with FTP across all distributed platforms... |
Including distributed to z/OS in either direction.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

And here I thought z/OS had some extra controls to make sure the troubles of distributed ftp / sftp did not touch it... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

If the distributed side "misbehaves" then you're as screwed.
It's possibly easier to detect and remediate inside z/OS but not measurably easier than moving or renaming a distributed file.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
