Hello,
Does anyone know if the scheduling server is required in order to generate work-item notifications? I thought that the basic workflow engine would create these automatically after a work-item expires. The scheduling server impacts performance and we would like to disable it, but still have work-item notifications enabled. Thanks for any input.

Paul:
You must have the Scheduling server running if you wish to do anything that relates to "timing" in MQWF. This includes Notifications, Expirations and Suspend w/ time interval.
The only thing that you can do to reduce the overhead is to examine your "Notification Check Interval" with respect to the time intervals you are trying to guage. The default interval set by MQWF is 1 hour, but this is generally changed to a smaller interval by most users. Generally, I would not recommed going below 5 minutes. For example lets say you have a 5 minute Notification requirement on an activity, you need to realize that if your Check interval is 5 minutes, the maximum notification time would be 9 minutes 59 seconds. This would be the case when the Scheduling server woke up and checked your activity at 4:59 which of course is less than 5:00 and thus waits until the next time it wakes up to issue the Notification.
Hope this helps. _________________ John McDonald
