Query wrt IIB and compatibility on Windows 8.1....
The system requirements for WMQ7.5 refer to Win 8 and Win8.1 separately, whereas for IIB only refers to Windows 8 which does make me wonder about 8.1
I had managed to install WMQ7502 and IIB 9002 (64 bit version) last week without any apparent issues, i.e. created qmgr, broker, deployed flows etc. Later installed WMQ7503.
A colleague has installed WMQ7503, and then IIB 9001 OK, but when trying to install FP002 gets a windows error complaining that the installer is a 16-application...and I now get the exact same error when trying to re-run the exact same FP002 installer that worked OK last week.
Given the lack of a statement in the sys req's for Win8.1, it has made me wonder whether it's really ok...
cheers

If it's not on the list of supported OS, then it's of course possible to install it on that OS but it may wobble a bit, and certainly can't be used for any environment where you may need IBM to support you. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Yeah, it's only from a desktop sandpit environment that we're looking at for win 8.1., our real run-time environments are all linux.
Maybe our desktop team are trying to break new ground too quickly for us!! |

It's a sad fact that all desktop people embrace the doomed hope that the new Windoze will not be as horrible as the last one.
The advantage I see with 8.n is that now you can actually punch the screen when it doesn't work and claim you're selecting a tile, thus looking like less of a crazy person.
Years too late for me of course, but future generations will benefit. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Must admit I had never considered that benefit. Now if only the impact could be sent directly to the developer(s) concerned as well..!!
I've only had the Win8 experience for a couple of weeks and haven't felt the need to put grubby finger marks all over the screen just yet.... |

If it wasn't a download problem you may have to run the installer in compatibility mode... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

tried various compatibility modes with the previous download which had no effect, so suspect that there must be something wrong with it. ran the new download without doing anything special and all was ok. |
