Hi All,
I am facing an issue regarding Email Input Node, I created the security identifier along with the configurable service as mentioned on IBM support forum, but on the Event Log I am getting following error:
Unsupported Authentication Type
Below is the event view log:
Quote: |
( IB9NODE.NotificationEG ) EmailInput node ''Email Input'' in message flow ''ApproveTaskFlow'' is unable to communicate with email server ''pop3://192.168.129.170:110''. The error message is ''Unsupported authentication type''.
The EmailInput node cannot communicate with the email server.
Ensure that the email server is running and is accessible from the system that IBM Integration Bus is running on. Also ensure that the Email Server property is correctly configured on the EmailInput node, or that the serverName property is correctly configured on the EmailServer configurable service. |
Please help me out.
Thanks in advance. |

Ask whoever administers that email server what kind of authentication it expects. Problems such are you decribe can be caused by:
- the server expects an SSL encrypted link
- the server uses additional security (such as you may have seen if you use GMail at all)
- the server expects a SAML token not a password
- etc
- etc
Basically the node is connecting, and is getting "Unsupported Authentication Type" back as an error message from the POP3 server. You need to discover what prompts the POP3 server to say that.
There's a good chance there's nothing fundamentally wrong with what you've set up your end. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks a million Vitor...
The email server was using authentication with MD5 encryption only, when I checked plain encryption it worked like a charm.
Thanks a million times again, you have been a great help.
