I would like to be able to monitor queue depth using the NT Performance Monitor alerts. However, when I attempt to list the queues from perfmon, the list of queues does not appear. Consequently, I cannot select a queue to associate with the alert. Interestingly enough, if you access the server from perfmon on a remote workstation, you do receive a list of counters and can properly configure an alert, albiet on the wrong machine.
Is anyone aware of any permission or configuration issues that might prevent a local account from seeing the list of queues in perfmon but would not inhibit remote viewing of those counters?
Not sure this is what your looking for, however the counters can only be selected if the queues are being accessed (i.e. msg put or get) while you have perfmon open. Same deal for the channel statistics support pack. You'll therefore need to interact with every queue you want to monitor.
